Davis Street wows the Rodeo Uncorked crowd

February 22, 2015

Shrimp sounds diminutive but it turned out to be a huge hit at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's Best Bites Competition at Rodeo Uncorked on Sunday night.

Davis Street at Hermann Park, a modern American restaurant at 5925 Almeda, took Best Bite's top honor, the Trailblazing Award, with its Crispy Thai Shrimp. Two Reserve Champions came behind Davis Street: Brio Tuscan Grille's crab cakes and Brennan's Houston's classic turtle soup.

More than 90 restaurants and catering companies competed in the annual competition that is part of the food and wine extravaganza that is Rodeo Uncorked, the party that whets the appetite for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. More than 5,000 people attended Sunday night's event at NRG Center.

Davis St. also took second place in the Popular Choice (people's choice) competition, and second place in showmanship.
