Chef for A Day

Brennan’s of Houston, one of the Southwest’s best restaurants invites diners to an exclusive experience in their famed kitchen. This “Chef For A Day” experience offers aspiring chefs and home-cooks a chance to go beyond the dining room into the kitchen learning what it takes to create some of the country’s most exquisite cuisine alongside Executive Chef Danny Trace.

“Since the reopening of Brennan’s of Houston we have been anxiously working toward bringing back the ‘Chef For A Day’ program,” says Alex Brennan Martin, President of Brennan’s of Houston. A lot of people wonder what it’s like to work in the kitchen of a restaurant like Brennan’s of Houston, and with this program they get to find out. But this isn’t like dining at a chef’s table or watching the action in an open kitchen from the dining room—this opportunity is definitely designed to put our guests to work!”

Guests begin their “Chef For A Day” experience in the morning when they receive their official, personalized chef's uniform. Once dressed, Chef Danny will proceed with introductions and a tour of the restaurant and the kitchen. Throughout the day the chef-in-training will work at each station of the kitchen prepping and creating dishes. From the kitchen they will move on to the bar where they will get to taste some unique spirits and spend some time with Brennan’s of Houston’s "Wine Guy" choosing the wines for their dinner guests later that evening. When the libation station is over, the chef-in-training will join five friends for a six-course dinner (that they prepared) which includes their wine pairings.

For $1,450, the “Chef for a day” package for one person includes:

·1 personalized chef's uniform (jacket  and pants)

·1 personal hands-on chef training in the kitchen and at the bar

·Food and beverage tasting

·6 course dinner with wine pairings for the Chef for a Day and five guests

·Something extra* (a small gift from the chef, i.e. a knife or  similar, subject to availability)

Chef For A Day is available to one person per day and must be pre-paid at the time of the booking. Dates are flexible but a week’s notice is recommended to ensure the personalized uniform and proper preparations are complete. Chef For A Day is not available November 15, 2010 – January 15, 2011.

ABOUT BRENNAN’S OF HOUSTON

The Brennan’s of Houston kitchen has explored the vast spectrum of Creole’s evolution in the “Bayou City.” Cultural influences in South Texas and an abundance of fresh produce unique to the region have provided ample opportunities for delicious Texas variations on time-honored Louisiana themes. Along the way, the passionate Brennan’s team has received accolades establishing the restaurant as one of the finest in the city. Awards such as Exxon Mobil’s Four-Star designation in 2000, and a nod from restaurant reporter John Mariani in 1997, who called former Executive Chef and General Manager Carl Walker “one of America’s most influential chefs”, are just two such accomplishments Brennan’s counts on its list of accolades. Brennan’s has also been regularly rated among Houston’s “Best” and “Most Popular” restaurants in the Zagat Survey.
