Wines We Love with Our Food
Scholium Project "Naucratis" Verdelho -- California 2009
This wine has a Gruner Veltliner-Chenin Blanc-like feel. Citrus backbone with plush, honeysuckle finish and lively zing.
Lioco "Durell Vineyard" Chardonnay -- Sonoma Valley 2008
Pear and peach are complemented by sweet honeysuckle. A lot going on with this wine, as the finish just goes and goes. The food possibilities are endless. One of our favorites.
Delmotte Brut, Le Mesnil -- Champagne
Bright and crisp, with crunch green apple and pear, anise, chalky mineral and lemon curd flavors that are focused by firm acidity. The finish is fresh with a light grain to the texture.
Argiolas "Costamolino" Vermentino -- Serdenia, Italy 2010
Intense, yet delicate, aromas of citrus, tropical fruits and honey. On the palate, the wine shows zesty acidity and pineapple overtones. A great wine to enjoy with anything spicy, grilled fish or risotto.
Petroni "Rosso Di Sonoma" -- Sonoma Valley 2007
Sweet ripe blackberry, black cherry, fruit cake spices, vanilla, caramel and floral notes flooded the senses with a hint of cedar. The ripe flavors are balanced nicely with tangy acidity and fresh finish.
Kenneth Volk "Calleri" Negrette -- San Benito, California 2009
Shares some of the characteristics of both Syrah and Pinot Noir. Flavors of brambly fruit and cherry with spicy gaminess. Low tannins and a silky smooth texture.
Copain "Alder Springs" Syrah -- Mendocino, California 2007
Complex fragrant nose that just oozes meat, pepper, violets and slightly candied currants. Palate has a strong fruit component with very dark berries, allspice, vanilla and hints of smoke. Steak or chops.
Enamore -- Mendoza, Argentina 2010
Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah. Made from partially dried grapes. Concentrated, structured and elegant and full of spices and "raisiny" aromes. Soft, round and a touch of sweet.
Bertani Valpolicella -- Veneto, Italy 2009
Debut vintage. Corvina and Rondinella. Strong aromas of plum, cherry, raspberry and spice. Deep ruby red color with a well-rounded and long finish.NY Strip, Filet.
