Wines We Love with Our Food
Alberice Pinot Grigio, Friuli, Italy 2011
Dry, crisp and refreshing. Grown in the foothills of the towering, now-cooled Alps, this brisk and lively, lemon-rich white wine is full of flavors of crisp pears, green apples, plenty of Meyer lemon rind and fresh herbs. Nervous and energetic yet very juicy in the middle; the finish is stoney and pure, just like the neighboring glaciers one can see from the vineyard. Great for any appetizer or shellfish.
Domaine de Margalleau Vouvray Sec, Loire Valley, France 2011
Chenin Blanc. This is what Vouvray should be...green apple, stone fruit, and great minerality. Just enough residual sweetness to leave you wanting more. Ideal for a light cheese course or Brennan's quail.
Shea Wine Cellars "Shea Vineyard" Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2009
A lively nose of ripe pear and floral nuances, Hints of red and green apple with a faint touch of oak round out this wine's finish. A great wine to have on its own or with a variety of foods. One of the few historically consistent great vineyard in Oregon. Try with our crab cakes!
Robert Foley "Kelly's Cuvee" Syrah, Napa Valley 2010
Only 200 cases made. Very dark, inky and spicy. Firmly structured with balanced moderate tannis and natural acidity, flavors of spicy blackberry explode across the palate with a rich finish. Deliciously concentrated, this syrah is built for both early and future drinking. Harris Ranch Strip pairs well.
Copain "Estate" Trousseau, Russian River Valley 2011
Limited production wine made from a 3-acre vineyard in Russian River Valley. A nose similar to many pinot noirs of the region -- rose petal and spicy, floral notes. Flavors of dried herbs, sweet fruits and nutmeg with a finish of savory meat and white pepper. Perfect for Quail or Duck.
Barr Estate "Reserve" Petite Verdot, Paso Robles 2007
Mostly petite verdot blended with a little cabernet sauvignon. Unexpected scents of raspberries, cherries and blackberry jam. Soft flavors of red and black fruit, ripe plums and cedar box. A great opportunity to try and stand-alone petite verdot, as it usually blended with other varietals. Lamb Chops go great with this one!
Tentute Dettori "Tenores" Cannonau, Sardinia, Italy 2006
Made from the Grenache grape, called Cannonau in Sardinia. Refusing to use chemical fertilizers in the vineyards, or sulphur in the bottle, this is "natural" winemaking at its best...from the best. Aromas of ripe figs, brown sugar, leather and even green olive. Often mistaken for well-aged Barolo or Burgundy, with flavors of cinnamon stick, red apples and blackberry jam. A unique wine to be enjoyed with cheese or a nice steak.
