If you think four dollars for a coffee is too expensive or you can’t believe the price of a Big Mac these days, then look away now. We’ve rounded up nine of the most expensive meals in the world that will have you wondering – who on earth is eating these? From hot dogs covered in caviar to burgers that cost more than a small car, we want to know – would you be tempted?
Brennan’s Restaurant in Houston offers one hundred dollar blue crab and caviar nachos. Unlike the old can of salsa dumped on a bag of corn chips, this dish comes with a full pound of Louisiana Jumbo lump crab and an ounce of Petrossian caviar, along with fire roasted corn, cheese and avocado.
Barclay Prime in Philadelphia serves up what is perhaps the most expensive cheesesteak in the world. USD$120 will get you a gourmet sesame roll piled high with wagyu rib eye, foie gras and truffle cheese whiz. Served with half a bottle of champagne, it will be a sandwich to remember.
$169 HOT DOG
Seattle based food truck, Tokyo Dog dishes out hot dogs on a daily basis. While a regular dog may set you back a few dollars, the Juuni Ban (#12) is priced at $169. The 12 inch brioche bun is topped with smoked cheese bratwurst, butter teriyaki grilled onions, mushrooms, wagyu beef, foie gras, shaved black truffles, caviar and of course, Japanese mayo.
The reputable Bar Masa in New York City specialises in modern Japanese cuisine by renowned chef Masa Takayama. One order (eight rolls) of Masa toro with caviar will cost upwards of two hundred dollars because top-of-the-line tuna and caviar are indeed a delicacy.
The Old Homestead Steakhouse in New York City proudly serves the finest cuts of beef for enthusiastic carnivorous. Those with deep pockets and a hungry stomach can go all out with the 12 oz Japanese kobe beef steak on the menu for $350 – oh, and sides are extra. But you can expect melt-in-your-mouth steak with exceptional flavour.
Steveson Pizza Co in Richmond, British Columbia is famed for their authentic pizzas and love of seafood. While most items on the menu sit around the twenty dollar mark, the 12 inch Seenay with a medley of tiger prawns, lobster ratatouille, caviar and Italian white truffles is close to a grand.

If you find yourself hungry in Chicago, there’s always ‘The Victoria’ ice cream sundae at the Pavilion in the Langham Hotel. For one grand you can taste scoops of Tahitian vanilla and 70% chocolate ice cream, decorated with 24 carat gold leaf and gold dust, caramelised peanuts, salted caramel and butterscotch served in a Wedgewood Crystal Bowl (to keep) and a bottle of 2003 Dom Perignon.
Live a life of luxury in Las Vegas with a taste of the Fleur Burger 5000. The popular Fleur restaurant by Hubert Keller has crafted a gourmet burger complete with wagyu beef, foie gras and truffle. Served with a bottle of 1996 Chaeau Petrus, this treat will set you back five grand.
One of the most expensive desserts in the world is The Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence at the Fortress Resort and Spa in Sri Lanka. This first class delicacy is a gold leaf Italian cassata, served with a mango and pomegranate compote. Perhaps the price can be explained by the opulent 80 carat aquamarine stone that adorns the artistic dish.
