Too bad Dallas: James Beard brings its celebrity chef tour to Houston for its only Texas stop
My family reunions generally feature horseshoe competitions, clarinet performances by middle-school-age cousins and lots of Velveeta macaroni and cheese. A Brennan's family reunions means combining award-winning chefs at a once-in-a-lifetime dinner.
I think I was born into the wrong family.
The Brennan family of restaurants is getting together on Sept. 29 as part of the James Beard Celebrity Chef Tour. Taking place at Brennan's of Houston, chefs Tory McPhail (Commander's Palace in New Orleans), Chris Lusk (Café Adelaide), Rolando Soza (Bistro Alex) and host chef Danny Trace will collaborate on a six-course dinner that shows the individual interpretations of the family's unique modern Creole cuisine.
Guests will begin with passed canapés and wine selections from Brennan's Jason Sherman and Stella Artois, before sitting down for the feast, and each chef will mingle with the crowd. Tickets are $150 and a portion will go to benefit educational programs run by the James Beard Foundation. The Brennan's dinner is the James Beard Celebrity Chef Tour's only stop in Texas.
Which Brennan's chef would you most want to cook for you? What other Houston restaurant families should be having culinary reunions?
