Five of Houston’s top chefs will be featured at the James Beard Foundation’s Celebrity Chef Tour which returns to Brennan’s of Houston this year on Sept. 27. Host chef Danny Trace of Brennan’s is welcoming Chris Shepherd of Underbelly, Justin Yu of Oxheart, Hugo Ortega of Hugo’s and Backstreet Café, and Philippe Schmit of Philippe Restaurant & Lounge to collaborate on a lavish, six-course dinner highlighting the city’s culinary diversity. It promises to be a highlight on this year’s culinary calendar.
Brennan’s owner Alex Brennan-Martin and Trace invited the Houston chefs to participate in the dinner because of the culinary perspective each brings to the food culture of Houston.
This is the second year Brennan’s has hosted the Celebrity Chef Tour, a program that brings James Beard Foundation Award winners and other celebrity chefs to private clubs, resorts and exclusive venues throughout the country for spectacular dining events. Last year the event highlighted Brennan’s family restaurant chefs, which included Tory McPhail of Commander’s Palace in New Orleans.
Tickets for this year’s Celebrity Chef Tour are $170 per person (inclusive of wine pairings, tax and gratuity) are available beginning today, Aug. 28. Reservations may be made by calling Jeff Black at 720-201-1853 or celebritycheftour.com.
A portion of the evening’s proceeds benefits the James Beard Foundation’s educational programs; today, the Celebrity Chef Tour has raised more than $850,000 for the foundation.
