About:
Veteran food writer and natural-born cook Pableaux Johnson [recently featured in the New York Times - December 1, 2019] will be bringing the time-honored tradition of Red Beans and Rice to New Orleans’ sister city, Houston, Texas, with a hearty supply of the legendary Camellia Brand Red Beans — the oldest and respected bean company since 1923.
Camellia, the 96-year-old New Orleans’ dried bean brand, works with multi-generational farmers across the country. Camellia is the fabled fuel behind the famous Red Beans Roadshow, which continues with its next stop at the Brennan’s of Houston, the city's premier destination for memorable dining served with true Southern hospitality since 1967.
Hosts Alex Brennan-Martin, son of one of the most revered culinarians, Ella Brennan, and Executive Chef Joe Cervantez, will be collaborating with Johnson to create a family-style feast, beginning with a cocktail gathering at 6:30PM, followed by a sit-down, three-course supper beginning at 7:00PM. It’s only fitting for the Red Bean Roadshow to make one of its stops at Brennan’s of Houston, which shares the same value as Camellia Brand— continuing a family legacy.
